This book is exactly what I was looking for. I've been seeking more knowledge on ear candling for several years. I've had the procedure done numerous times over the last 10 years and had positive results but when I became a practitioner, I wanted to be educated on what was and what was not occurring.This is a great book to answer that questions.

I have been using Ear Candles for about 10 years now to clean my ears. It was brand new for me. I was amazed that there were people and their families who had used no other way during their lives. This gives me the opportunity to experiment with other uses which, as before, I had not idea of.

Haven't finished just been real busy like the rest of the world. Think it is a book I will refer to often though and I was pleased with the packaging and arrival date

I have believed in ear candles for years and absolutely wouldn't bear a bad word said about them in my presence. After recently using 6 in each ear and the supposed ear wax that I was getting out was an incredibly large quantity, I started wondering how I could have so much ear wax buildup.So I started investigating deeper. I found several videos on youtube where people did experiments. They light the ear candles and simply hold them in their hands until they burn down. At which time they take the ear candle apart as normal and eureka! The supposed ear wax is there are normal. Only problem is, it wasn't anywhere near an ear!I did the experiment myself, TWICE. I burned two ear candles, the first one I held loosely and the second one, I made a fist and stuck it into it as though to cause a canal like the ear. The second one put out about 3 times as much supposed ear wax as the first one. So somehow, a canal causes it to produce more supposed ear wax. I guess it effects the way it burns and causes the buildup when it's in a canal.On top of that, the supposed ear wax and white powder that is in the candle when it's done burning is ACTUALLY going INTO your ear, NOT out of it. So these are every bit as dangerous as some people say they are. They are illegal in some countries because of the harm they can cause.So what happens is, when these are burned, the candle itself is what causes the so called ear wax and white powder that is in the candle. BUT don't take my word for it. Do a search on youtube for ear candle experiments done by ordinary people. If that's not enough either, do an experiment yourself like I did. It was hard for me to talk myself into doing what I considered wasting ear candles by experimenting with them, but it saved me hundreds in the long run if I keep buying these things for years to come. So, take the leap of faith if you have some and do the experiment as I have spoken of.If you have ear candles on hand, burn one as I have said and try for yourself. I don't know about you, but I absolutely HATE feeling like i've been duped into believing these work. I've spent about 200 dollars on ear candles over the years and it was money wasted. I just threw about $30 worth of ear candles in the trash after my experiment. Too bad I didn't discover that this was snake oil earlier, but at least I did figure it out eventually. Some people never do.My final words are, ear candles do NOT work in the least and not only that, but they are putting the trash into your ear that you THINK you are taking out. These are fully capable of causing long term damage to your ear! BUYER BEWARE!

This Fodor Guide is decent. I like that they have carved out these three states from Fodor's broader New England guide. Each state is divided into logical regions (e.g., Maine Coast; souther, central and northern Vermont) and then cities within each Refugio. Are discussed in a logical, sequential progression (e.g., City B is X miles west of City A; City C is Y miles northwest of B; etc). The guide also has nice side panels that focus on key regional characteristics (e.g., best dinners in New Hampshire; where to get the best Moon Pies in Maine; best routes to "peep leaves", etc,). Information is concise, clearly written, and supported by regional and city maps. Restaurant information and recommendations are good; lodging listings very from very detailed in larger cities (Portland, Manchester, etc) to very light. My main gripe, and this is an amateur historian talking, is that some of the historical information is spotty to nonexistent. One glaring example: only a mention - a clause in one sentence - about the Calvin Coolidge State Park in Plymouth Notch, VT. A pathetic oversight of a site well deserving a 2-3 hour stop. The coverage of Acadia National Park is also light. Barely a mention of South Harbor on Mount Desert Island. Nothing on the Penobscot Museum and Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain sites in Brunswick, Maine. So, a good source for somewhere to start. My wife and I have supplemented Fodor's with books from AAA and our own research.

Since northern New England is best seen by car, I was hoping for an informative itinerary that would show me the best routes to take to see New Hampshire and Vermont in two, three or possibly four days. The book is more a collection of the restaurants and places to stay. One could get that information online just by looking up the towns. You'll need to design your own trip with little information to go on with this book. Better off just contacting the tourism boards of each of the states. It's better information, it's online as well, and it's free.

In my opinion, the book is written helter skelter. Show only high priced accommodations and eateries. This book was apparently written for people whom usually vacation by way of tour companies. Sorry I wasted money on this!

I've used Fodor's often, even for prior New England trips. However, I was disappointed that most of the restaurant offerings were $$$-$$$$. I wanted a Fodor's guide dedicated to Vermont, but could not find one on Amazon (so I opted for this one). Since a trip like this usually costs us a few thousand dollars (airfare, lodging, car rental, etc.), we ordinarily choose to economize where we are able(within reason).Ultimately, almost all of our planning was best served by using tripadvisor. Given that, I'll probably forego any future guide book purchases.

We are planning an August trip and the Fodor's guide was an excellent aid. The mentioned highlites were a great help. I would recommend it for traveling in any season. The foilage suggestions will be excellent for another trip.

Lots of great information for traveling. Great maps and pictures tool. Used it for traveling to Bar Harbor and down the coast of Maine this fall.

I have the hardcover edition of this book, along with the CD and DVD. The book and media are practical, no-nonsense techniques for helping you to examine yourself and your beliefs about yourself, and deciding which of these are true and which are someone else's stories that have somehow taken root in your mind.McKenna takes material from many different sources and synthesizes it, boils it down, and presents it in an orderly set of seven lessons, each of which take about an hour a day to read. It is really helpful to get a pack of those little multi-color "study" stickies, becuase there are exercises in the book that you will want to refer to and practice daily, at least for the first read-through, i.e. the seven days.The CD contains a self-hypnosis session; each listening will also take about a half hour. You are asked to listen to the CD first thing in the morning, and once again in the evening. It seems to be effective, particularly if headphones or earbuds are used.The DVD contains seven daily pick-me-ups, head & shoulders shots of McKenna talking you through a quick, five-minute energizing technique as you start your day.Caveat: The CD and DVD run fine on regular CD and DVD players, and on Macintosh. I was unable to get either of them to play on Windows 7 or Windows 8. They may run on Linux/UNIX, seeing as how Mac is based on UNIX; I didn't attempt it.UPDATE: I was able to copy the DVD on a Mac, the copy runs fine anywhere, WIndows, Mac, etc.tl;dr - Try it if the discs are included. A brilliant effort. My life did not change after 7 days. But my life is changing a little bit. I'm willing to give McKenna the benefit of the doubt and give him some time; after all Rome wasn't built in a day. He gives innumerable exercises and practices to do to create change in your life. One chapter per day. The DVD is a waste of time: it just repeats what is at the beginning of each chapter of the book. However, the CD is precious. It is like having Paul McKenna do a private hypnosis session with you every time you listen to it. But I was hoping to see more dramatic change in 7 days as advertised. I plan on re-reading the book, which he also recommends (kind of exposing the fact that he himself realizes that the title is pure hype).

I love the hypnotherapy tape that comes with this. It puts me right to sleep which is odd because i such a light sleeper. not sure if I am supposed to fall asleep but I do. Just like everything, the methods in this book work if you do them on a regular basis. But mindful habits are hard to change if you do not continue doing the homework after you are done reading the book.

I high recommend this book! This is amazing!! My life just began to change on the second day. I would like to thank Paul Mckenna by help me reprogram my mind. The techniques suggested by it are simple and really works. I feel confident and energized after reading this fantastic book!! I have attitude and control of my mind!Even if you do not believe in self-help book, please consider this one. Your life will really change.

The audio files didn't work for PC computer. Paul McKenna CD is only designed for Mac users unfortunately.

I now have several of Paul McKenna's programs and, while I'm still in the early weeks of listening and reading, both the book and particularly the CD are highly effective. If you are one for hypnosis - being open to suggestion - this is a great program. It works at the subconscious level altering your perspective and attitude towards things which opens up opportunity for change.I love this man and his work.

Something shifted when I did the program. I'm going to do it again as I need another shift. I have already recommended the program and will continue to do so.

The boy's favorite painting--The Starry Night--patches the ceiling above his bed and, looking at it, he realizes that his lost friend "is not lost at all." This simple story is illustrated by page after page of Van Gogh-like paintings. Although none is actually a copy of any particular work, recognizable elements of the artist's style--impasto, haloes, discrete brushstrokes--distinguish them all. The subject matter is also familiar: cornfield, snow, sunflower, narrow red bed, flowering trees, rustic chair, etc. The intense palette of reds, oranges, blues, and purples also echoes the master. Great book about Vincent van Gogh. Perfect for my elementary art classroom. Students can read to themselves when they finish early and can learn much from reading this book.

THE FIRST STARRY NIGHT provides a perfect introduction for children to the life and works of the artist, Vincent Van Gogh. Jacques sees past the rough exterior that Van Gogh portrays to others and recognizes the loneliness and longing for friendship within his heart. We often forget that in their innocence children recognize the inner needs of another individual in ways that we as adults do not. A child is much more accepting of the uniqueness of the individual, not focusing on the oddities or eccentricities. Joan Isom portrays a kind and caring side of Van Gogh not often displayed in other books, but a side that every child should and needs to see. The comparison of the stars to a good painting or a good story in their everlasting qualities is one that should be instilled in every child. The emphasis on the fact that we all see things differently and an appreciation for those differences is a lesson that I try to incorporate daily in the classroom. I have purchased a lot of travel guides and have done a lot of traveling in my life. However, this is one of the most disappointing, poorly written, travel guide I have ever used. First of all, the majority of the book is lodging and dining info, mainly expensive places with little info for the budget traveler. Most of this info could be found via the internet with greater accuracy, depth, variety, etc. That was about 2/3's of the book. For some some of the more important spots like Charleston, Charlotte, Atlanta, and Savannah there was little info about history, what to see and do, etc. And most of the info was old and inaccurate. I was able to get more info, using my iPhone. Take my advice, skip this piece of poop guide and use the internet. You will be much better off in the long run. Another piece of advice, skip Myrtle Beach, SC totally! It is nothing but a bunch of hotels, bad food places, cheap beach items and miniature golf courses.

Useless book but no big deal. It was so cheap. I will donate it to my local library. But the good news.. both North and South Carolina are beautiful states to visit. The Biltmore Estate in Asheville NC was fantastic. The azaleas were at their peak.

Few photos, few maps. Few photos and maps. Don't has one summary of the most important items. Don't has the most important museums.I do not recommend.

This is a poorly written travel guide with inadequate information and with graphics (or lack there off) which makes it difficult to use. There is basically no color in the entire book except the front and back covers. The Fodor's guide is of much better quality in its writing and graphics and a superior investment of your money and time. Also, when I purchase a travel guide, I am not purchasing a political magazine or book (I can get those elsewhere). The Frommer's guide is full of political statements which can be insulting and condescending and is definitely not for anyone who may consider themselves conservative or Republican (or as the Frommer guide calls them: "far right-wing racists"), but if you are a liberal ("progressive" good guys according to Frommer), this may be the guide for you. That is, if your "progressive" eyes have the patience to go through this book without falling asleep or getting lost what you are trying to find. If you have the misfortune like myself to purchase this book, rip out the nice map and keep it, while you throw away the rest of the book into the garbage can or better yet the recycling bin (yes, we "far right-wing" people do like recycling).

The book was ok. It just didn't make clear the massive building of condos and other buildings in places where we thought the coast was clear. Matbe our misread. The outer banks were the pits.

We ordered this item almost a month prior to our vacation departure date. It never arrived. What to do on vacation is useless if you are not on vacation!

Arrived in perfect condition; true to Frommer's form was just what I wanted.

Just a few pages were torn out at the end of the volume-not critical or so it seems to me

I was hoping to get this book for my 2 year old who was visiting the dentist for the first time. This book is great, very colorful, but is very very wordy. Too much reading for a 2 year old's attention span. I also wasn't thrilled with them bringing up the idea that going to the dentist can hurt...so if you are looking for a book to get your child used to the idea of the dentist, I wouldn't recommend this one at all. But if you have a child that needs dental work done (like a cavity filled), then this book would be fine as this is what the book is about, the Big Bad Wolf getting his tooth fixed.

We love this book! My 2 year old was so proud because when he went to the dentist he thought it was great that he sat in the chair and got to go through a treasure chest just like Elmo did in the book! The book is well written and a great way to prepare your child for their first visit to the dentist. It really helped to decrease any anxiety about that first trip. I plan to read it a lot more before his next appointment as well to ensure he's not stressed when going back to the dentist. Highly recommended!

My 23 month old daughter loves Elmo, so this was a good book along with a few others to help prepare her for her first dentist trip. Although she likes it, it is targeted for a little older audience. She prefers "ready set brush" with Elmo as it is interactive.

Just okay. Don't love it. Story is long and not the most entertaining. If I had seen it in person, I wouldn't have purchased it.

My son relates his own dentist visits to this book and I think it really helps him realize that EVERYONE needs to go to the dentist.
