Written very well and it is easy to understand. I always relied on Nolo as they put more thought in their material than most authors regarding bankruptcy. The question is will it work for me? That I don't know as it will put a negative mark on my credit report where I would lose points and imagine it will have to stay on my credit for a number of years. Yes, it wipe everything out which include many doctor bills. It might inhibit me to get better medical care. Once they have your social security number, very easily a credit check can be run. That is what concerns me.

...read this book! It is a great introduction to the subject of personal bankruptcy. When a consumer gets into debt over their head and is unable to keep up the payments on the bills, sometimes bankruptcy is the best way out. The author explains the differences between Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 and why a debtor would choose one or the other. He also explains the means test, which determines whether Chapter 7 bankruptcy is available. He explains the purposes of bankruptcy as well as the consequences. He also explains the limitations of bankruptcy. Not all debts may be discharged and some property is excluded from the reach of creditors. The book is written for the average reader and the language is clear and concise. This book does not cover Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which is for businesses, or Chapter 12 bankruptcy, which is for farms. It does not provide step-by-step instructions for filing bankruptcy. For that, you will need another book. The book is fairly short and half of its content is made up of a glossary, sample forms, and a table of federal and state exemptions. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is considering personal bankruptcy.

Comprehensive, current information which fully explains the bankruptcy process. Allows the reader to consider various options. There are clickable links in the table of contents to take the reader to items such as means test, resources, all bankruptcy forms. I give this book the highest rating. It is not a spam book filled with affiliate links. Straight forward information with helpful links to take you to sites that can provide additional information. Certainly worth the price I paid.

Good guide

Buy this book.

As always, Nolo books are the best! I am in the legal profession and Nolo Books are far better than the ordinarly law books, especially on Bankruptcy. They are great reference books and they are wonderful to look up something that would take hours to look up in law books. I recommend Nolo for anyone who needs this type of information, both non-lawyer and lawyers!

As a bankruptcy lawyer, I sometimes teach people how to file their own bankruptcy and this book has proven to be an indispensable tool for my classes. It is also helpful for my individual consultations with persons wondering whether bankruptcy is the right choice for them. The authors use plain, non-technical language to help lay persons, and even experts, better understand the purposes and processes of bankruptcy in light of the most recent changes to the law. This is an excellent guide to bankruptcy that anyone contemplating it should read.

This book has so much information in it. Found out I could get a bigger exemption on my home because my son lives with me. Also written so its easily understandable. Would certainly recommend to anyone thinking of filing.

The book that makes you go through the experience of the author and how he learns to improve himself in the memorizing aspect is just mind blowing. Harry Lorayne has the experience of expanding his memorization potential over time and the techniques mentioned in here are also that he applied to his brain expansion. This book "The Memory Book: The Classic Guide to Improving Your Memory at Work, at School, and at Play" is just one of the phenomenal books if you are really serious in boosting up your memory. Then when I searched for the book that not only make me increase my memory but in reality gives the control of my mind to me, I also came to know about this excellent book Maximizing Brain Control : Unleash The Genius In You. You can increase the memorization power with different tips and tricks but taking full control so that there remains no door unlocked for your memory to be enhanced, you can always go through this book to add up to your memorizing skills.Harry Lorayne has proven himself to be the master at increasing mind's potential. The thing is that there is no way that you would master any trick overnight but with the techniques he share with you that he have used for all his life and have benefit from them up till today. It is your time to get on with learning the techniques and get the boost in your memory while you study, play or even when you are hanging out with friends. The only thing that would make your memory perfect is how much you dedicate yourself to them. The author has taught with his experience that how he step by step mastered the techniques and how you can become proficient at them too so that you can get the grasp on your memory. This book is worth having especially if you are tired of looking around for memory improving books. Just commit yourself to the memory techniques present in here for you and get the success graph go through the roof.

There is something incredible to be said about a book that has been continuously published a little over 40 years. When I borrowed the e-book version from the local library, I really was not expecting much because of its age but after reading the last page, I think you might agree with me that its perhaps the most informal yet informative guide about improving memory. The Memory book is co-authored mnemonics guide written by Harry Lorayne and Jerry Lucas, both of whom have made a living by demonstrations of their prodigious memories - perhaps moreso Harry Lorayne - who was an irregular guest during the Johnny Carson era of the The Tonight Show. Initially published in 1974, the authors both converse and elaborate in an informal tone on both the history and techniques of not just improving memory but also distinct methods on particular matters as simple as remembering shopping lists to sports plays. Starting with a simple elaboration about the well-known image linking method of remembering lists, the authors build on with homonyms and codes that can be applied to almost anything that needs to learned.I really enjoyed this book in several ways. The light and conversational tone forgoes the drier explanations about psychology with simple and effective details that will have you remembering things faster than you thought. While most of us have resigned ourselves to the brute force approach of repetition in remembering anything, those seeking alternative methods will be very interested in applying the techniques that the authors elaborate. In my case, the chapter on learning a second language has been an incredible guide to remembering vocabulary, moreso when it is something as alien as the Japanese language. There is one passage that really stuck to me – In chapter 2 they were quick to declare that “virtually all learning is based on memory” and that while some educators might take offense to having their lessons simply “memorized”, the authors countered with an anecdote about the three steps of basic learning: 1) the search for information, 2) remembering the information, and 3) applying the information. By concentrating on the second step, everything else you want to know will coalesce around and finally you will be actually learning. While I seriously doubt the methods and exercises will turn you into stage act on par with Harry Lorayne, being able to remember names, faces, and the associated phone would be an impressive feat in this age of the omniscient contact lists.

If you are interested in memory improvement, this book is foundational and possibly the only memory book you will need. Harry lays the basics for mnemonics, pegs, and other basic aspects of memorization techniques. Reread value is incredibly high, as this book is intended for memory mastery. It has a conversational aspect which makes it easy to read.

It is truly amazing how simply and quickly this book teaches you to perform magic-seeming memory feats. After only reading two chapters I could receit all fifty states of the US both forward and BACKWARD in forward or reverse alphabetic order (probably took me 15 to 20 minutes to memorize). Trust me, if I had attempted something like that before it would have taken me hours to memorize. My only regret is I did not read this book when I was in High School. For the record, I am now 61, you really can teach an old dog new tricks.

I actually read a sample of this book on Amazon before I ordered it. Part of the beginning of the book was about memorizing a list. I did the exercise and memorized the list and now two weeks later I can still recall that list! I was so excited to get the book. It may be old but that does not mean it is not relevant. Quick service. Book as described. 👍

About the Author

Vice Magazine started out as a lowly newsprint punk zine in 1994 in Montreal. Now it’s this big, weird, famous, smart and stupid magazine that’s published in 22 (that’s right, fucking 22) countries. We mix real-deal investigative journalism, witty and learned interviews, the best young photographers and artists, and a total global perspective with dick jokes, gratuitous nudity, and questionable opinions on how to live one’s life. Then we fart it all out every month in a magazine that is so good, people get visibly angry and jealous when they touch it. Oh well. That’s their problem.

This is a great bathroom read. so far, I've read about half of the articles and they are very interesting with a distinct voice in each article. If you are new to Vice, this offbeat magazine will give you the full spectrum of human emotion. Have you ever laughed while on the throne? Made a disgusted face?(I'm sure you have.) If you like the bizarre, this is for you.

Not what I hoped for about one good article every 20 pages.

Funny and informative

Great book!

This is a nice text to read when trying to find something to do when you might be bored. It has held my attention which is nice.

13 stars for a good book. purchase it for the enjoyment of your granny. my granny liked it, and she used to be a stripper.worth every goddamn red cent.

Ive loved Vice mag for years- already have their first book and was So thrilled to get their second book. Sasha Grey looks so innocent and sweet on the cover- the back is a different pic of her, but in Quite a different look. LOVE it!

This is great bathroom reading for the bleary eyed morning hours. Some might be offended and I wouldn't select this as a gift for my mother, but it's a way to begin the average persons day with a smile and escape from the real news for a bit. Fits nicely on the tank, or in a reading basket.

I train yoga teachers to specialize in prenatal and postnatal yoga. Kimberly's book will now be required reading for our trainees at the Amala School of Prenatal Yoga in Chicago. Nowhere else have I seen such a holistic, comprehensive, forthright and compassionate take on our lives as mothers. She weaves in wisdom from Ayurveda, Yoga, Structural Integration, Traditional Chinese Medicine...and somehow even more than that! I am wholly impressed by this body of work and cannot wait to work with you in the future, Kimberly. Thank you for writing this book and for helping mothers feel blessed by the opportunity not just to have a baby, but to ask for help and to take care of herself. Deep bow! Lela

I love that I am reading this book as the mother of a 9 and 12 year old and still the material is relatable. I can do the work of the fourth trimester even now with older children. I think that is the way with truth; it withstands the test of time. Kimberly's book is helping me see what steps I can take to view my experience with compassion and continue to heal as I move forward. It's also possible to flip the book open to any part and get a nugget of wisdom or hear another woman's story.

I read this book on my last trimester of our second child and it brought up good conversations with my husband. I love the way it emphasizes that your marriage and relationship with your partner should not be placed in the back burner during this 4th trimester period. I also like the way it is organized, depending on which stage of life you are in. Definitely a good book companion to first forty days.

Every mother/to-be and those that support early maternity should read this book! Even though I am personally pretty well-versed in mother/baby care value systems, as somebody who is in the middle of my first pregnancy (which has been riddled with physical and emotional challenges), this book has been like a good friend telling me how it all really is in a calm clear manner - I have shed tears in pure recognition interspersed with note taking and saying out loud "oh good idea!"This book majorly validates a mother's intuitive knowing (because we really do know these things!) but also helps move that inuition into clear actionable steps to build real, tangible support during this critical time.I am hesitant to give anyone any parenting advice, especially to new and pregnant mothers, but this book I feel is a must!I am so grateful this book was written!

(Writing from my Husbands account) Dont borrow this one, youre gonna want your own copy!!! This book is amazing. So easy to navigate if you're not a "read the whole book" kind of person, but you'll end up reading cover to cover several times. It is so in depth but incredibly easy to read. I love the structure and how Kimberly adds her personal story to relate to the reader. It is a beautiful reminder to rest and not be afraid to ask for help during your recovery. If you are a partner, this book is for you too! Anyone who supports a mother or is a mother should have this in their tool box. I am a first time mom and have heard and read a lot of what she discusses in the book, but now I have one solid source to refer back to, its like the postpartum dictionary must have. I paired it with The first fourty days (Heng Ou) and I need no other books for me. Now to find that for baby! I would recommend even if you're remotely considering motherhood.

I found this book because I have had online courses and hands-on healing sessions with Kimberly Ann Johnson. The wisdom and empowerment she transfers to the people she engages with is unlike anything I have seen.I'm just a few chapters in but already I know this will be a path-altering tool in my own healing process. The rituals and planning and movement guides will give me framing to have my own best Fourth Trimester NOW - even though my child is in 6th Grade.I had an extremely traumatizing pregnancy and birth experience that included surgeries and cancer treatments. It's only recently more than a decade later that I guess my body feels safe enough to explore those traumas.Kimberly's book is an ideal shepherd in this exploration. She has encapsulated her teachings and tools in such a way that you can benefit from her extensive knowledge and authentic compassion even if you don't happen to live near one of her workspaces.I highly recommend The Fourth Trimester for every person preparing to birth - or anyone who is caring for someone that is birthing or parenting. At any stage of preparation or recovery this book has tools and information that are vital and relevant. If you work with birthers, this should be on your library shelf.I will come back to add more to my review once I finish reading it...but don't you wait on me. Get yours now because it is never too EARLY to prepare for a healing Fourth Trimester.

Where do I begin? This book is everything. I have a one year old and didn’t have this book during my 4th trimester. I will definitely implement this information if I have a second baby. But this book is still so helpful to women at all stages of life. It discusses the importance of self-care, prioritizing ourselves, asking for help and support, knowing we can do everything)but we don’t have to and efinitely don’t have to do it alone. I am a sex therapist and I have recommended this book to several clients and couples. This last week I have gifted this book 4 times to personal friends!!!!! You will not regret this purchase.

#107,246 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

I have taught Artificial Intelligence (AI) for 3 decades at a major university. Until about 10 years ago, whenever someone worried about the effect of intelligent software/hardware destroying future jobs, I would always give my "buggy whip" argument, which goes like this:"When the automobile was invented it DID destroy many jobs. Makers of buggy whips and horse troughs were put out of business. But many more NEW jobs were created to replace those older jobs. Witness all the gas stations, auto mechanic shops, car factories, etc."About 8 years ago I lost faith in the buggy whip argument. I realized that, as the technology of AI advanced, a point would be reached in which intelligent software and general-purpose robots could perform all tasks (both mental and physical) that are currently achievable only by highly educated humans. Once one intelligent robot exists with a high level of general intelligence, it can be mass produced. There have been many advances in AI in recent years (in neural networks, planning and learning systems). Machine learning systems can now learn a number of complex cognitive tasks simply by observing the past performance of human experts.I have always been an admirer of the combination of modern capitalism and (relatively) free markets as the major drivers of wealth. However, modern capitalism (with its corporations, stock and dividends) is less than a few centuries old. There is no reason to believe that it must last forever. Its "reign" over older economic systems may well end abruptly in the near future. At one time I toyed with writing a book about my concerns regarding intelligent automation and its future effect on political and economic systems but Martin Ford has a done a 100-times better job that I could have ever done. His book is very persuasive in pointing out why the "buggy whip" argument will cease to remain persuasive.I only have two complaints about Ford's book: (a) the title sounds a bit too much like a title for a pulp-fiction work and so I fear that not enough people will read it and (b) the first 75 pages consist of a standard summary of current economic facts and principles and so I fear that some readers may quit reading his book before they get to the really interesting parts, which in my opinion, start after page 75.

Martin Ford is among the technologists who have warned that technology is and will increasingly displace human beings across all employment sectors. This phenomenon will threaten the structural foundation of our capitalist economies fueled by consumer spending (that accounts for close to 70% of GDP in the US).His vision regarding the exponential growth of technology (Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud computing, Internet and mobile apps, robots) is not all that different than the vision of Erik Brynjolfsson and Andrew McAfee as they expressed within their own two books on the subject: “Race Against The Machine” and “The Second Machine.”Martin Ford puts more weight into what he calls the seven deadly trends:1) Stagnant wages;2) Declining share of GDP going to labor and rising share going to corporate profits;3) Declining labor force participation rate;4) Diminishing job creation, lengthening jobless recoveries, and soaring long-term unemployment;5) Soaring inequality;6) Declining incomes and underemployment for recent college graduates; and7) Polarization and part-time jobs.Brynjolfsson and McAfee also identified the same trends. It just that Martin Ford sees those trends as potentially irreversible meanwhile the two other authors do not. Consequently, how thetwo sets of authors greatly differ is in their hope for the future of human labor.Brynjolfsson and McAfee envision that humans have a fighting chance of eventually racing with the machine instead of against it. This means they view that ultimately digital automation could complement human labor instead of substituting it. They support their argument with an iconic example “freestyle chess.” In this new discipline teams of humans and computers team up in different ways to compete against each other. They have observed that the best freestyle chess teams are not stand-alone supercomputers who could easily beat Gary Kasparov; instead they are teams of mathematicians and engineers who have developed the rare skill of analyzing freestyle chess games while guiding simultaneously two or three laptops to run their adaptative Machine Learning algorithms. Brynjolfsson and McAfee advances that this represents a model for the labor force of the future on how to race with the machine. They advance that the collaboration between human intelligence and Artificial Intelligence (AI) will always be better (or at least for some time) than AI alone. By the same token they think that IBM Watson’s medical diagnostic abilities will be much improved when teamed up with expert doctors than on a stand-alone basis.Martin Ford views things very differently. He considers the whole example of freestyle chess less than convincing even over the short term. He thinks that it is just a matter of time before AI renders humans superfluous. He sees no reason why AI would not quickly become better than humans at analyzing freestyle chess games. Similarly, he thinks IBM Watson on a stand-alone basis may not need the expertise of doctors to render superior medical diagnoses absent of human bias, flaws, and errors. Remember the entire work of Phillip Tetlock on the poor performance of experts across all fields because of overconfidence. Regarding medicine, the superiority of AI on a stand-alone basis has already been demonstrated with radiologists. AI was a lot more accurate and a heck of a lot faster at interpreting X-rays than expert radiologists were.Given their positive outlook, Brynjolfsson and McAfee recommend we invest more in education focused on what they call “ideation.” The latter embodies intellectual curiosity, creativity, ability to come up with out of the box questions (some call it lateral thinking). They view those cognitive features as uniquely human.Martin Ford, on his part, thinks that such investment in education may be good to maintain the social fiber of our society. But, it is entirely futile in terms of rendering humans able to race with the machines. Contrary to what Brynjolfsson and McAfee states, machines are already very good at many elements of ideation, creativity, exploring different solutions, etc. Machines can also be genuinely artistically creative. He gives an example whereby complex algorithms can now create wonderful classic symphonies that are competitive with the best composers. They can make modern sculptures. They can also write a surprisingly wide variety of news articles on numerous subjects. Someone in the book indicated that in a near future nearly 90% of news articles could be written by robots.Martin Ford indicates that his concerns are not his alone. For a long time, leading minds have expressed such concerns. John Maynard Keynes stated back in 1930, that technology was likely to move faster than society’s ability to create new jobs for the displaced workers within just a few generations. In 1949, Norbert Wiener, a renowned MIT mathematician expressed similar concerns in a New York Times article. He stated “if we can do anything in a clear and intelligible way, we can do it by machine… [this will lead to] an industrial revolution of unmitigated cruelty [displacing human labor].” In 1964, a team of scientists and economists wrote a report for Lyndon Johnson called “The Triple Revolution.” One of those revolutions was titled the Cybernation Revolution. Within this report they reiterated the exact same concerns expressed by Keynes and Wiener. But, no one listened. Post WW II, the US economy was experiencing a long boom where technology created a rise in productivity, living standards, and overall economic growth at all levels (technology complemented labor and did not substitute for it). However, less than a decade after the Triple Revolution report was written in 1973 rising labor productivity became completely decoupled from stagnant wages and median household income. Brynjolfsson and McAfee also wrote extensively about this “decoupling” within their books and blogs. It is just that Martin Ford does not believe those decoupling trends can be easily reversed if at all. When it comes to overall recommendations, besides education, investing in infrastructure, increasing Government investment in science and basic research, Brynjolfsson and McAfee recommend a modest increase in the Earned Income Tax Credit to counter the impact of technology displacement on consumer spending. Meanwhile, they are both adamantly opposed to a Basic Guaranteed Income for all because of moral hazard (incentive not to work) and the deleterious effect of idleness on individuals and society at large. While Martin Ford does agree with some public investment in education, infrastructure, science and basic research, contrary to Brynjolfsson and McAfee, he strongly supports the implementation of a massive Basic Guaranteed Income for all (qualified individuals) of at least $10,000. He views this as inevitable since otherwise consumer spending will get wiped out due to technological unemployment. He is not worried about the moral hazard of lowering individuals incentive to work since there will be not enough work to be had anyway.Ultimately, Martin Ford in his analysis of the situation is much more convincing than Erik Brynjolfsson and Andrew McAfee. Yet I thought both their books (“Race Against The Machine” and “The Second Machine”) were formidable. But, they both claimed to be technology-optimists. Their positive recommendations were the weakest part of their respective books. Martin Ford, on his part, comes across as a technology-objectivist. He calls a spade a spade. And, he makes no artificial bias effort to dilute his diagnostic by making hopeful recommendations that he does not consider realistic. There is just a remaining flaw in all these authors recommendation. And, that is that they all don’t fully factor or express the fiscal constraints (the US and other countries are under). The US fiscal position is already unsustainable. With the existing structure of social entitlements (very modest in scale vs. proposed Basic Guaranteed Income) the US prospective Budget Deficits are unsustainable. And, they lead to the US Debt/GDP ratio to nearly double from just under 80% currently to 150% by 2047 (CBO projection). Adding on an additional huge social entitlement (Basic Income) that would increase Federal Government spending by over 50% is just not realistic. The above does not detract much from the overall quality of these outstanding books, and especially of this one book reviewed.

I read a ton of books, and cite/excerpt/link them on my main blog (Blog.KHIT.org). Rarely have I encountered one as oddly enjoyable as this one. Amiably well-written, amply documented, throwing down clear logic, and plausible scenario conjectures (based on his -- always guarded -- interpretations of his broad and deep documentation).Humans seem to be sleepwalking into a future regarding which they are largely unprepared. Will we slide into a dystopian techno-neo-feudalism when the jobs largely evaporate across nearly all sectors, including the cognitive arena "knowledge worker" domains thought to be relatively bulletproof? We are all in this together -- much as our narcissistic one-tenth-of-one-percenters like to deny it. "Wealth" is a relative thing, much as they prefer to deny it.My initial interest in this book (based on an NPR interview I heard) was that of his take on health care (my area -- Health IT), which I will be writing up forthwith. But, the larger problem is equally if not moreso compelling. How will we all "earn our keep" if reliable employment diminishes by half or more, regardless of our skills and initiative? Are we headed for "Elysium"?Or worse?

His public life began when he servedas the leader of Coral Depths City on the Mon Calamari homeworld. TheEmpire attacked the watery planet and enslaved many of its citizens, including Ackbar. He eventually became Grand Moff Tarkin's interpreter, and while in the Imperial's service he heard about the Rebellion andlearned of a new superweapon. Ackbar made a study of Imperial tactics anddefenses while serving the grand moff. Rebel agents released him fromservitude during a failed attempt to assassinate Tarkin. Ackbar returnedto his homeworld and convinced the normally peaceful Mon Calamari to jointhe Rebels, bringing a much-needed fleet of capital ships into theAlliance arsenal.Shortly after the Battle of Yavin, the newly ranked Commander Ackbarproposed a plan for dealing with Imperial escort frigates. He argued thata specially designed starfighter was the Alliance's best hope--at leastuntil more funds became available or the number of Rebel capital shipsdramatically increased. As a member of both the ProvisionalCouncil and the ruling Inner Council, he helped forge the new galacticgovernment.During the events surrounding the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn, Ackbarwas falsely accused of embezzling New Republic funds thanks to fakeevidence planted by Thrawn. Ackbar was later cleared, through the effortsof Luke Skywalker and his companions, and the Mon Calamari led the NewRepublic fleet to victory over Thrawn's forces at the Bilbringi Shipyards.A few days after Thrawn's defeat, survivors of the Emperor's ruling circleand a handful of Imperial fleet commanders attacked and recapturedCoruscant. Ackbar and other New Republic leaders planned a counterstrike, and their forces regained Coruscant a few months later.Later, on a diplomatic mission to Vortex, Ackbar's personal B-wing fightercrashed into the Cathedral of Winds. This towering crystalline structurewas considered to be the world's greatest artistic treasure, and Ackbarwas once again accused of a serious crime. For the time frame this book was issued, it answered many open ended questions. I wasn't impressed the dictionary type format but it works. There have been many consolidated books issued on the Star Wars Universe, if you are a Star Wars fan, I would say "get it" ...

I grew up on Star Wars, but lost track when the new trilogy came out. This guide has helped me understand some of the characters and places that have been introduced. It's easy to use and read.

Cool book

Because the "Star Wars Universe" this guide covers is as vast and populated as George Lucas' "galaxy far, far away," it's impossible for even the most prolific researcher/writer to keep up with all the new additions as books, games, collectibles and even animated episodes appear almost on a monthly basis. For even though the Star Wars canon (read, "official version") only includes the six filmed Episodes, their novelizations, and their direct off-shoots (such as the National Public Radio dramatizations and the Cartoon Network's Clone Wars miniseries), there are also tons of Lucasfilm-authorized Expanded Universe novels, comic books, and games (roleplaying and computer games) that have added planets, political entities, droids, weapons, spacecraft, alien and human characters that go beyond Lucas' filmed works. In some ways, Bill Slavicsek's 596 page A (as in A-3DO, a droid once owned by the Jedi Knight Andur Sunrider) to Z (ZZ-4Z, yet another droid, this time once Han Solo's mechanical housekeeper, last seen recovering from an attack by Boba Fett) book serves as a "poor man's Star Wars Encyclopedia," since the format is very similar and essentially covers the same territory -- down to the style of the entries -- as Steven J. Sansweet's more expensive and even more outdated (circa 1998) reference book. The Guide is, obviously, a must-have reference work, and Slavicsek has done an excellent job at compiling all the data from not only the first four filmed Episodes (the cutoff point in this edition for the movies is Episode I: The Phantom Menace) but also every licensed media release, including young reader books (The Glove of Darth Vader), comic books (Tales of the Jedi Knights, the Dark Empire series), and such forgotten (and forgetable) TV offerings as the Droids animated series.I don't know if there will be an interim Guide published by Ballantine Books before the release of Episode III next year; I had hoped to see a fourth edition this year that would cover Episode II and the New Jedi Order series after Vector Prime. Then again, Sansweet's more expensive Star Wars Encyclopedia has not been updated yet, so I am guessing the next editions of these two wonderful references will be released in a few years.

`Completely revised and expanded' is what the cover of the Third Edition `Guide to the Star Wars Universe' says, but when those who own previous editions flip through the pages, they find a great deal of what they have read before with scant passages of new information, and Slavicsek professes to be a huge Star Wars fan, I find it odd that he completely misses entire series of novels-like the Aaron Alston series of X-wing books. Plus Slavicsek touches on the Phantom Menace with character bios, places and equipment, but he ignores a lot of the other material-books and comics-that came out after the film. As well there is very little new art, and none of the art is original, rather pictures we have seen before, (and gives us one of the dumbest pictures of Corran Horn I have ever seen). He makes no mention of Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, which in my opinion is one of the best pieces of Star Wars related material released in the last five years. Now, that is not to say that the book isn't worth the money. It is overflowing with all sorts of obscure facts from sources that many people might not otherwise read-like it draws heavily on the Star Wars role playing Game material (West End Games, not Wizards), though I suspect that it mainly because Slavicsek wrote a lot of those books as well. It takes from comics, novels, movies, even the forgettable Droid and Ewok TV shows, and the two Ewok movies, even the Holiday Special, which we won't talk about. Ever.I think it falls apart because they released it too soon. It covers Vector Prime, but none of the five other books that followed it in the New Jedi Order series. No mention of `Onslaught', `Ruin', `Heroes Trial', `Jedi Eclipse' or `Balance Point', and perhaps Del Rey should have waited until they had been published before releasing this to make it even more up to date. Still, it is an excellent source of Star Wars information, a great source for role playing material and a reference to all the books and comics you haven't yet read. Not great, but still pretty darn good.May the Force be with you.

The Guide to the Star Wars Galaxy is a handy reference for any fan of the books and movies. Because it was published in the year 2000, it came after a wave of new books and a new movie, thus making it up to date up until that time. While not as complete as the Star Wars Encyclopedia, it has information that SWE did not cover. However, it does not contain the wealth of information that SWE has, and the illistrations are black and white, whereas the Encyclopeida's are color. The Guide covers new information in the Han Solo Trilogy, the X-Wing series, Episode I: The Phantom Menace, the New Jedi Order (Just Vector Prime) and several other novels. So, this is just right if you are a fan that likes up to date information. However,it is already out of date and does not contain everything that is new. There is nothing about the second and third parts of the X-Wing series, nothing beyond Vector Prime and several other books that are already out. Hopefully there'll be a new editon in the near future.
