Overall the book is good but it doesn’t give details on some things that were important to me: Tethered shooting, more information on manual white balance. I’m no expert at all, in fact I’m a new amateur and got the book to go with the camera I had just bought.The book is easy to follow, well written and full of charts, examples and cheat sheets. I just wish that it had a bit more depth.
This book explains well the features and uses of this sophisticated camera. Four decades ago, I was a fairly proficient amateur user of an SLR film camera. However, I had gotten away from using sophisticated cameras. I have been using "point and shoots" since then. Recently, I longed to return to good photography, and I bought the Nikon D3300. I have bought two books to help me get into the technology I have bought. This is the better of the two. It explains things basically, and it is designed to allow you to enter any part of the book and understand what you are reading. In other words, I repeats things it has discussed previously, rather than either assuming you read the earlier section or referring you back to it. That may be a bit irritating if you read it straight through, but you can easily skim through the repetition you remember reading.This book explains the features well and well-describes how to use them to best effect. I recommend it for someone who wants to learn how to use the features of this sophisticated camera. If you are an advanced user, (1) you do not need this book, and (2) you should not buy this entry-level DSLR camera.
Its pretty much just the manual in a nice graphic format. I was looking for more of different ways to use my camera based on a professionals experience, versus just descriptions of what all the buttons do. The author gives a few tips, but thats about it. For that the book is fine, but I feel the information can be had pretty much for free is you search other avenues. My mistake. Good for beginners.
It's a sin to own a beautiful piece of equipment like this but only ever use it on the automatic setting. This book gives you easy step by step instruction that will help you produce pictures that rival a pro. I'm thrilled with the tips I'm picking up from this book. I'm finally getting my money's worth from my Nikon camera. Great for the amateur photographer like me who wants to do more! Great learning tool!
Nikkon D3300 was my first SLR camera. Coming from point and shoot cameras, I was going to need all the help I can get with the SLR camera. This book has been very helpful on understanding the D3300!
i've finally made my sojourn into photography with a purchase of a nikon D3300....knowing that the basic manual for most things are incredibly dry and sometimes hide important info behind jargon or technical writing, i decided to invest in my first "for dummies" book. this book has been priceless for a beginner and i find myself constantly referencing it for new ways to use my camera. if you're a veteran photographer then i doubt you'd be reading these reviews in the first place....but if you're a beginner or you wish to have a more in depth understanding of what your nikon D3300 can do for you then this book is for you.
Great layout of material in the book. Love the fact they don't assume anything. A topic or word will be talked about and if it's technical at all, it's like "don't know what that is? It''ll be covered in more detail in chapter 7". You can them jump to chapter 7 right away to make sense of it or just keep reading.Big fan, very specific details about my camera which is nice, but you also get lots of general information regarding photography.
We bought the Nikon D3300 camera and this to go with it. I haven't read the entire thing yet, but the parts I've ready have been extremely helpful. My husband loves it too, and he already knew how to use the camera since he uses it at work...he said there are some great tips and more detailed instructions in this book to really help you learn how to use all of the settings. Would recommend if you own the camera to get this too!
There's a lot here that I have to read. It has a lot of good references and starts "at the beginning." I'm am pre reviewing this as I assume it will be taking me through EVERY function of the camera so I can use it all and have great in focus photos from here until... I still own a Nikon all manual film camera with 3 lenses--no fancy auto-programing. Hopefully my Nikon family last forever which I cannot say for my point and shoots: Fuji, Canon, Olympus, Lumix.
